| Customer Reviews: Cheap alternative to Plasma and LCD ? March 5, 2007 I. J. Wilks (Essex UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
No to put it simply, but if like me you are disapointed with the quality of non HD tranmissions on Plasma and LCD then this may be what you are looking for.
I have read many reviews of Samsung Slimfit TV's some good and some downright awful! At £199 + delivery I decided to take a chance.
First impressions out of the (huge) box is that from the front it looks like a "flat" TV. It is certainly slimmer front to back than a standard CRT tv of the same screen size (32 inch) It weighs an absolute tonne though, 45 kg!! and should not be lifted by one person (delivery driver testified to that!)
Once set up (one button push once plugged in) The tuner found all of the freeview channels in about 2 minutes. The picture is very crisp with little digital blockiness from the main channels (1,2 itv, 4) some fuzzines is visible on some channels but no diferent to my Panasonic DVD recorder's freeview performance. DVD playback through scart is brilliant and much better than many LCD,Plasma screens I have seen in the high street. There are some geometry issues with the edges of the screen but this is slight and most of the time you will not notice. The sound is also very good with SRS trusound and a simple graphic equaliser. Its not as "bassey" as my old Sony but I guess that is more to do with cabinet size. You cant have everything for this price.
Hooked up my ps2 via scart and was a bit dissapointed initially but once the picture settings were tweaked the performance was entirely satifactory.
To sum it up, very good value for those on a budget,(£199 amazing value!) dont buy if you have any HD aspirations or a PS3 on order.
Excellect TV - Highly Recommened March 7, 2007 S. Kilmore (Scunthorpe, UK) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I saw this Tv on Amazon, and whilst i wasn't thinking about buying a new TV, at £[...] inc delivery i thought why not.
It arrived today and i am in love with it! Straight out of the box, plugged in, connected my arial and it instantly tuned in all of the freeview channels, and within five minutes i was watching TV.
The picture quality is brilliant for a CRT, very clear and vibrant in colour, with the bonus that it is flatscreen. the TV is indeed quite slim, slimmer than my current 21" CRT.
Overall i could not be happier with this, and i highly reccomend it!
Good value piece of kit March 5, 2007 John Boy (Warton, Lancashire) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I owned an older style 32" Hitachi which was a bit of a monster in the living room and had the habit of making people look rather squat and wide beamed. This TV is most certainly 'slim' and does not have the same habit as the old beastie. The outputs on the back are limited, only having 2 SCART's, however, with A/V interconneting boxes this limitation can be overcome. Overall this TV is value for money and looks like an LCD/Plasma when positioned in the corner of the room because of the slim fit.
