5 out of 5 stars Bravo! Bravia   April 10, 2007

I have now had this TV for a week. I have looked at many LCD's and never been convinced about the picture quality, in fact I still believe that overall a good CRT wins over all else in the picture stakes at the current time. However this is the best that an LCD will do. Sony have produced an LCD which shows colour and contrast to a depth that is almost unbelievable. When you are watching well filmed drama it can sometimes look photographic in detail and that is not even HD! Where it is slightly let down and this applies to all LCD's and this is with 'motion smear'. You can see it quite clearly depending on the scene but is worse when the screen is dark and the camera is moving around. Plasma's do not suffer this.
Having said that, I like this TV. It looks great, feels nice and is a pleasure to watch. Until the new generation of SED TV's are affordable, this will do me fine. Well done Sony for producing an LCD which is now priced less than my old 29" trinitron was 11 years ago!
There are cheaper sets out there, lots of them, but have a good look at the picture before you buy.
Purchased for £649 after a web comparison check.

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars, rated as an LCD TV   June 17, 2007

There seems to be some critisism of LCD's generally in these review threads, detracting from the overall score for this set. If you are looking at plasma's, LCD's and CRT's then you will find that Plasma's and CRT's generally have a better picture, so if picture quality is key, buy either one of these. If you are set on an LCD, like I was, (for reasons of size and durability over the other two) then the Sony is well worth considering.

I have to admit to being a brand snob and spending over £500 on a TV I want to feel good about it when it is switched off as well as when it is on. This limits the choice to a few sets all in a similar price bracket. I spent a good deal of time studying the pictures in Curry's of various manafacturers, and only Samsung seemed to be competitive. I went for the Sony based solely in the end on the build quality and brand.

Having got the set home, set up was very easy and automatic, the controlls are pretty intuitive and the picture is way better than the old 24'' Hitachi CRT I had. Watching it is easy on the eye and it is not too bright, which worried me with the Samsung. The acid test is would I buy the same again and the answer is yes, I haven't seen a better telly for the money. Price paid - £539 from Currys after some significant haggling.

This TV has colour that could rival CRT TV's and incredible picture quality when a HD device is connected. It is easy to set up and a joy to have, Through SCART it looks easily as good as my old 32" CRT Trinitron (which broke after 5 years!), through Composite HD or HDMI it looks amazing. Would definitely advise this as a purchase, especially at the price amazon is offering!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, but not quite as many stations as my Free-view digibox...   June 24, 2007

Bought this 32 LCD after our 8 year old Sony caught fire one night. (luckily just after Prison break) Always have had Sony stuff, and this TV is excellent allround. easy to set up, good pic, sound and controls. Also is very neat and narrow unlike the previous one which had the depth of a dumper truck.
I give 5 stars as its brilliant for the money, but a slight minus point is that for some reason I can't get as many stations as my old Free-view digibox. If anyone can say why this might be I would appreciate an email.Thanks.

After having problems with another cheaper brand of lcd tvs I decided to splash out on a branded name tv. I can say without doubt that it is worth every penny. You get a feature rich tv, that with a little tweaking in the settings creates a absolute stunning looking picture, especially with a high definition input such as a blu-ray player or a next generation console like the PS3 or 360. A slim sleek exterior hides a great piece of technology, buy it now
