5 out of 5 stars Fabulous purchase   June 11, 2007

This tv is a fabulous bargain. Some people say the sound is not so good but personally, although this is my first lcd tv, the sound is very good on its own but does benefit from surround sound speakers. So simple to connect as there are audio connections on the back of the tv. This means surround soud is available not only for dvd movies etc but tv programmes too. Some remark that the remote control is tacky so was expecting a small and flimsy one like with cheap dvd players. However though it is not the greatest remote in the world it is certainly not tacky, though a lttle larger than expected, but still black in keeping with the beauty of the tv itself. The tv itself is absolutely gorgeous and at less then £500 is more than i could have expected. In tesco, argos, currys be prepared to pay an extra £175 on average. The picture is fabulous but as others note you do have to adjust contrast and sharpness etc, but this is so easy to do from the menu. People have commented about gaming features but not freeview. Well the freeview channels have perfect clarity when contrast, sharpness etc are adjusted. Overall a fabulous tv. When playing freeview for the first time remember initially to pressTV/DTV button. There is only one weakness with this great tv. There is a bit of a delay when flicking from one freeview channel to the next. I can find no other weaknesses and if you want a fabulous value for money item this tv is the one. It is simply brilliant.NOTE: people talk about changing factory settings, i assume they mean on analogue channels because on freeview channels i think the setting is set and you only need to change the general features in freeview i.e. contrast, sharpness etc and this is so easy to do from main menu. You do not need to be a whizz, anyone can do it in seconds. Repeat: fabulous in all respects except for delays in switching channels. Highly recommend this: has pc connectability, hd ready, special movie smoothing feature, special gaming mode, headphone socket, surround sound jacks(took about 10seconds to connect my home theatre system for tv use and movie use), 3 hdmi sockets, 2 scart sockets, superb 8000:1 contrast ratio, swivel mechanism for turning to desired angle. Don't be put off by fact hd is not generally used yet the picture is still great on normal terrrestrial broadcasts and from wide angles there is no picture breakage. Polished black finish and quite streamlined, with enclosed speakers.

5 out of 5 stars Best purchase I've made in years!   May 19, 2007

This TV is absolutely fantastic! Great value for money. I't does everything you could ask. Makes your dvd's look great and compared to the Sony Bravia of the same size that my friend bought, the difference in picture quality whilst playing my xbox is unnoticeable. This may be due to the fact the contrast ratio is higher than that of the Bravia.

The sleek black shiny design is great and the TV wows those who visit, however it does need a dust once a week. This is no chore as the TV is a thing of beauty.

Great for watching the footy too!

5 out of 5 stars Great TV for the price   July 9, 2007

This is also my first HDTV and I have to say so far I am very impressed. The TV is beautifully styled and really is a centrepiece to a room.

Pros: Great picture (freeview and terrestrial), lots of connectivity (although I haven't got any equipment with HDMI leads there are 3 ports!), and lots of nice features such as Picture in Picture (PIP) (watch TV whilst PC is on screen as well...), a freeze frame (pauses the picture - whatever is on the screen at the time) and links up well to my AV amp.

Cons: Freeview TV menu's are a bit slow to react. Wouldn't be able mount tv flush with the wall as cables come out back (not bottom) (but doesn't affect me as it is on a table) and as some of the other reviews say the speakers are not great but if you are spending five hundred odd quid on a telly why not spend an extra bit on some decent speakers as well!

Have not tried it with an HD input as my XBOX360 is currently being repaired for the second time in two months (v annoying!) but if all the other reviews are anything to go by it should be really good.

Summary: really good low price TV (£150 less than in high street) but treat yourself to some decent speakers to enjoy the most of the TV.

5 out of 5 stars A review for the average joes out there...   October 21, 2007

If like me you've read all the reviews about this TV, then you might be forgiven for being slightly skeptical about the quality of the product.

Reviews seem to be pretty varied, If it's not the sound people are dissapointed with, then it's the gaming, or the screen blur.

Gotta tell you, I do not see what they are talking about. i think there just nit picking...

Where to start..
1.the sound is better than the average tv, these guys gave me the impression the sound was horrific, it's the bass which suffers. plug up some speakers, and your fixed. Thats what i did, and sounds magnifico.
2.my god, my god. Plug a xbox 360 with hdmi to this baby, and you've gotta be a rich toff not to appreciate the picture perfect quality you get from this set. I was extremely impressed. Halo 3... Wooooowwweeeee!
3.Blurring... On my freeview, occasionally you do come accross some blurring. But only the biggest TV enthusiast would complain. and alot of these reviewers are just that. So if you're the average joe, who has a OFFLINE social life, and wants to impress your lady, or your mates. Then this TV is for you.
Ordering and delivery: this was my only letdown. It came 2 days early, on a work day...So i missed the delivery.

When i reordered for next day delivery from parcel force using there automated phone service. it didnt register my order for some reason or the other. I ended up paying £12 delivery charge so i could recieve it on a saturday. And Amazon have not answered my email asking if they could pay for the delivery charge. (CONCIDERING I PICKED SUPER SAVER DELIVERY)...

I'm broke at the moment, so i was pretty pissed.
apart from these difficulties... I'm just happy to have my TV.

Concider that only a few years ago, this spec TV, would have cost over £3,000. I'ts a bargain at £489 from Amazon.

MY BIG SUGGeSTION:

1. Tweak the picture settings, you can find adjustment settings online, forgot the site, but not hard to find. Makes a substantial difference to freeview.

2. Wall Mount this baby. some have said that there are problems wall mounting due to sockets sticking out at the back. This through my own experience is incorrect, It mounts perfectly, with everything attached. And the TV is SOOO LIGHT, you don't have to worry about wall collapsing.

3. Take advantage, and reap the benefits of HD. Seriously, freeview looks the same on any tv. Save up and buy a next gen console because it's hard to even believe how crisp the image is.

4. Plug your PC or laptop up to the TV, and play your dvdrips from your PC. Or... if your ahead of the game, You'll be playing your HDrips. =)

Thats all i can think of, So enjoy, and don't limit whats available in this set. I love it, can't recommend it enough =).

5 out of 5 stars once you have messed around with the options....   May 25, 2007

This tv is very very good for the amount you pay for it!!
My xbox 360 is currently connected to it and i have to say that once you change some of the screen resolutions and sort out the general config you will find yourself emersed in amazing picture quaility. Sadly i dont have a tv cable in my bedroom so i havent had a chance to test out freeview but if the output quailty i have seen so far from gears of war i think it will look very good indeed. The sound is also rather good for side speaker output. Sometimes i generally feel as though the sound is coming from behind me when i place the surround sound option on but how that is done through just two speakers infront of me s beyond me!
so if you want a high quality image for a low price this tv is a MUST!!

also amazon delieved it as promised the very next day with no problems
i will be buying electrical goods from here again!!
