Fantastic TV September 14, 2007 Kay E. Gillingham (Dorset, England) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
As soon as you get this tv out of the box, you admire the quality of this product. It is a glossy black finish which is a brilliant tv to look at.
It is so fast to set up aswell, it tunes in all analogue and digital(freeview) channels automatically which is very satisfying.
The main reason why i purchased this product is foe the playstation 3, hi definition experience. And what an experience this is. Sometimes you forget that you're playing games- it looks so real!!!
It is also great for connecting other products, like DVD players or vcr's, because it has 2 hdmi and 2 scart ports.
Also the colourand contrast is amazing.
If you are looking for a tv of great caliber, then this is a must have With the slim design, and great price, I would definately recommend this tv.
almost perfect August 5, 2007 My Real Name Is... (England) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
the picture quality on this tv is great, you only really see the quality loss on freeview broadcasts if you're right next to the screen, at normal viewing distance it looks amazing
the one drawback of the freeview system is that it is very slow to change channels and bring up the menu etc, my old sony set top box was lightning quick and you could bring up the info box and flick through the info for different channels like on sky, without changing the channel you're watching, which you cannot do on this tv i don't think
playing my ps3 through hdmi works brilliantly though, very sharp picture quality, sound isn't too bad through the in built speakers but i've got it connected to my amp for films and stuff
all in all a great buy, just slightly disappointed with the freeview integration
Amazing Screen for the Future April 25, 2007 Mr. S. Djumpah (U.K.) 61 out of 63 found this review helpful
For a good 3-4 months I was waiting to buy the previous model but as soon as I had the funds this upgrade came out, I had collected extensive research and concluded that I was going to get this screen, and I dont regret it one bit. When it comes to 'black levels few companies produce it as well as samsung'. The performance of the LCD is easily as good and most often better than the performance you'll get from any CRT but relative to the source (PS3 or Freeview via outdoor ariel). This particular screen is perfect for the bedroom but there are a few faults, one in particular is that as good as the sound can be, at high pitch levels there is some distortion this is simple solved by connecting speakers to it and the assumption is that if you can afford this screen you can afford speakers, I'd advise the purchase of logitech's superb Z-2300's, another problem was that PS2 games just looked horrid and this was through component cables so do not buy this if your intention is to play last generation games on it. One thing I must advise, is seeing if you can create a set up whereby you can connect your PC to the screen, the results are just outstanding, movies via DVD have never looked soo good. This being a new model of samsungs R series means that it will cost alot more initially and though the results prove its worth it the trade off in price by getting the lower model (LE-26R7 series) may be preferable to those whose requirements are little less demanding such as just needing a screen for next gen gaming. In summary this screen excels in displaying movies as it produces black and contrast levels that no other screen can at this competitive price a great investment for the future. It must be noted that the issue of getting finger prints over the screen is not even an issue it will probably require once or twice cleaning per week at most. One thing I definitely found dificult especially being a perfectionist is that no matter how many positive reviews a product got I always was still uncertain until every finite detail was covered therefore for those perfectionist all I can conclude is that this screen resolutions are superb but most importantly contrast ratios and colour saturations are exceptional and set up is easy with samsungs instant plug and play feature but collect other reviews to conclude if you want to purchase this screen, from what I know sony screens and toshiba screens slightly outperfom samsungs but these new models may have changed that. Apologies for the long review but its because I wanted to cover most of the issues and solutions that I had when hunting for a screen. I must also add for people who have a wii and want to play on this LCD the picture quality is impressive and is good enough to warrant its purchase but one note is that zelda for the wii doesn't look as good because of the simple fact that was made for the gamecube ironically though gamecube games though being last gen look impecable when played through the wii and so this may also apply to PS2 games when played through PS3.
Great September 12, 2007 A. Robson 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Got this tv a few days ago now not had any problems with it was very easy to set up for both general tv use, the plug and play wizard found all the freeview channels, and with my pc, had to fiddle with the resolution of my display but works well with VGA to VGA cable, great for gaming.
As other people have said the sound through the built in speakers is not amazing but for watching tv it is fine and I have it hooked up to a 2.1 speaker system which is better for music and gaming
All together I think this is a great tv especially for its low price
Couldn't Be happier! October 5, 2007 C. Cooper (Uk, Hampshire) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
After spending about a month researching into what tv i should get i went for this nice little number. I was mainly going to use this for gaming with the ps3, 360 and wii. The tv arrived before 9am the next day with express delivery so i was more than satisfied. I got it out the box and set it all up and admired its beauty. This tv looks very sexy next to my ps3.
With all my consoles hooked up and using HD i couldnt ask for more. Ok im only running my ps3 and 360 at 1080i but thats all i want seen as most of my ps3 games dont go past 720p.
Watching Blu-ray films on this is great and a new experience i am happy to be a part of.
My only argument about the tv is that i would have liked an additional component port. There is only one and my 360 and wii are using component so every time i wanna switch i have to turn the tv round and unplug the cables. To some this may not seem much of a problem but wen ur doing this a few times a day its very annoying. However with the 2 HDMI ports im considering upgrading to a 360 elite.
So all in all, the picture quality is great, amazing in fact, i have no complaints. Even Freeview looks amazing on this tv. The sound isnt perfect but find me a mid range LCD that has good speakers. This is easily sorted but plugging in some external speakers.
Ppl complaining about the time it takes to switch channels on freeview, ok it takes a few seconds but its nothing you cant deal with.
If you got the space and money the bigger sizes for this tv would be great, however i only had space for 26"
Basically buy this tv, you wont be disappointed.
