superb value for money November 17, 2007 Silvan Friderichs (england) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Yes, this tv is not 1080/full HD, but I love it nonetheless. Blu ray movies look absolutely stunning, and i am very impressed with the freeview picture.
I spend months looking around and chose this model over the W2000 which would have been 1080, because the SD picture is much better on the D3000 in my opinion.
I bought it for 750 and believe me, this is superb value for money.

I took delivery of this item on last week and I have to say that I am more than pleased with it. I chose this set as it is 100hz having previously had a CRT 100hz which definitely made a difference to the picture quality and response times. The picture is exceptionally clear on normal digital Sky and I am seriously looking forward to viewing the HD Sky I have just ordered. I watch quite a bit of .avi stuff through a Philips DVD player and the quality is fine. DVD quality is superb, particularly using the upscaling DVD player. I spent a lot of time researching HD TV's and I can honestly say this is seriously good value for money.

This is my first LCD panel, upgrading from a CRT. Did a fair bit of research first and then bought the newly released KDL40D3000. The picture is fabulous on anologue, digital and DVD; really sharp, no funny fringing effects around moving objects, colours are vibrant. The EPG is really easy to use. Easy to setup and search for channels. The panel looks great. Images even from my old 2.1megapixel camera look crisp; how does it do that ! I expected them to be blocky on a 40inch screen.
Thought the remote wasn't working too well but then found that the receiver is on the right hand edge of the panel....much better now!
All in all, fabulous LCD panel. Picture with non-HD broadcasts is great (much better than others, even other more expensive SONY LCDs). Drawback is no 1080p but what's the likelihood of broadcast transmissions in that format for many years to come? I happily traded the loss of 1080p for better non-HD pictures and can still see HD in 1080i if I ever get an HD DVD player. Buy one, you won't regret it !
Awesome November 30, 2007 B. Phillips (uk) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this from amazon back in october , and it is the market leader.the only reason this is not a 1080p is because sky broadcast in 1080i and will do for the next 10 years.this tv can be upgraded to 1080p via firmware upgrade.
Sky's 1080i broadcast is suspect , look at sky1 hd channel , its pathetic, but the football hd channels look fantastic on this tv , no motion blur.
3 hdmi ports ... fantastic , bravia theatre sync again fantastic , i have a ps3 and sonys all in 1 5.1 surround unit , plug n play with no wires.xbox 360 looks and sounds fantastic.
All i can say is '' this is the market leader the rest play catch up and at this price you wont go wrong.. buy it''.
sony bravia kdl 40d 3000 inherent fault December 31, 2009 Djbannister (gb birmingham) after two years of viewing ,with no problems, the set has developed an annoying fault as every now and then the screen goes blank, mostly when i attempt to change channel to another station. it goes blank with no sound,- no flashing self diagnostic light, the led remains green - and after about 8 seconds comes back on again and reverts back to the previous channel. i thought that i must have bought the friday night job but after going on the net i found out that the screens tend to go dark and black out on quite a few of the sony sets. as yet sony have not bothered to answer my emails. do your research before buying anything. i didn`t know because these were fairly new at the time and weren`t blogged on. ps. after hours on the net i came upon what might be the solution. there are 2 lvds (low volt differential cables) , one small signal to 100hz. box and one 100hz. to lcd panel. apparently one or both of them might not be plugged in fully. it might be a friday night job yet. just got to find the time to strip it down....found the time but no luck, same problem . they were out to lunch on this one.
