I'd be surprised if you could do better... December 7, 2007 S. A. Cornish 226 out of 227 found this review helpful
Bought this TV for our bedroom after looking at pretty much everything available from 15-20" screens with Freeview.
In general terms it looks great, very well designed and it's easy to manage the cables coming out of the back of it to keep them out of sight. Also the stand doubles as a wall mount if you prefer.
Within 5 minutes of taking it out the box it was set up and ready to view. It's pretty much a case of plugging it in and it does everything itself.
The freeview EPG is great, very easy to use and loads up very quickly.
The remote control is well laid out and has a useful luminous light button that lights up all the general volume and channel buttons if you're watching TV in the dark.
I really cannot find anything negative to say about it, and at the price that you can get it on Amazon you really couldn't do much better. I ordered mine using free supersave delivery and it arrived in 4 days.
Sexy beast December 8, 2007 M. R. Owens (Berkshire, U.K.) 51 out of 51 found this review helpful
I had this as a 'free' gift when I purchased a mobile phone. The first thing to say is that this is a very good looking, pleasing to the eye and very stylish tv - a sexy beast!. Setting up is straightforward. There are 3 pre-stored picutre settings - Dynamic, Standard and Movie. I would recommend spending a little time getting your own preferred settings by adjusting the standard setting. It can take some time to get this to your liking but the effort is well worth it. The sound is not bad considering the size of this unit but if you push it through an external source, such as an amplifier, this will obviously result in a big improvement. Picture quality is very good with the built in freewiew tuner, dvd's on a standard player are also very good, normal analogue TV pictures are a little dissapointing but then your not likely to view by this means anyway. The menu system can take a little time to get used to and the remote is the same. I would recommened this unit but you do need to spend some time tweeking the settings to get the best out of it.
Looking for a fantastic HD ready TV? November 17, 2007 Claire Bear (Stockton, England) 96 out of 97 found this review helpful
This is a brilliant buy at a great price. Far cheaper than the high street chains. I'm using it for my XBox 360 and the picture quality is crystal clear. It was easy to set up with a built in stand as well. I haven't used the Freeview side of it yet but the controls look easy enough. We already had the 23" Samsung and knew we wouldn't go wrong with this one. Cant fault Amazon for delivery. I opted for the free delivery and it arrived 24 hours later than if I chose to pay £7.95 for special delivery!!
Great Value for money December 2, 2008 K. Hamed (East Sussex, UK) 31 out of 31 found this review helpful
After carrying out a lot of research and looking into all sorts of TV's, I decided to go ahead and buy this Samsung TV. And I have not been left disappointed. It is a great little machine, with fantastic image quality, and it is so easy to set up.
After reading a few other reviews I have felt that some of them may be a little misleading, so I wanted put my own opinion forward.
Remote Control:
This remote may be a little hard to get used to but all the buttons that are in frequent use are all located and designed in a way that allows them to be found easily.
Freeview Menu:
Someone has mentioned that the Freeview menu is badly designed, but to be honest, I think it is great. When you press the 'guide' button you can see an inscreen video with sound of what you were watching. You can also see the information on the programme you have scrolled over, as well as being able to skip 24 hours and beyond. It is a great little feature, and certainly nothing I would complain about.
Blue Light:
The blue light on the tv is a great little touch, simple but it looks nice. It turns off when the tv goes off, so it is not a problem.
Dust:
Another reviewer mentioned that his TV attracts dust. I have to say if your room is dusty, then of course the TV will get dusty. But if this is an issue Samsung have already thought of the solution and have included a dust cloth in the box!
My only complaints:
I have only picked up on two complaints that I have (Hence the 4 stars)
Standby Mode:
As other reviewers have picked up on, the fact that the TV is constantly left on standby mode is an issue. Of course when you go on holiday you can always unplug the tv from the mains, but on a day to day basis it is a bit annoying.
Speed:
And again as other reviewers have picked up on, this tv set is quite slow. It takes a while to switch between channels, but as Im not really a channel hopper it hasn't seemed to affect me. I would say just use the TV Guide on freeview to see what you are watching, and then you won't have a problem!!
Final words... What a great TV! Simple, affordable, stylish and well thought through in so many areas! Easy to setup, and sound quality is fantastic! Not everything is going to be perfect, but I think this is as near to perfect as you can get! Well done Samsung!
Samsung LE19R86 - 19'' Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview - Black February 29, 2008 Eric Legge (Plymouth, England) 29 out of 29 found this review helpful
This is an excellent TV, well worth the price, which is reducing all the time. The set cost £250 when I bought it, and even then it was a bargain.
When set up optimally, there is a 3-D quality to the picture and the sound quality is also good.
To get the best picture, experiment with the settings.
It is best set up to view the Freeview digital channels with the P Mode (on the remote) set to use the Standard option.
There is no way to switch off standby other than switching the set off at the mains, but standby uses only 1W of power, which is next to nothing.
