5 out of 5 stars Excellent bit of kit   January 19, 2008

This is soooo much more than just a sat nav. Its an excellent bit of kit, synchs with your phone, so not only can you make calls on the move but access your saved numbers etc. We have three phones set up on it depending who's driving, so just press connect and away you go.

Anyhow on to the sat nav bit, comes fully loaded with all of europe, from Poland to Italy, Ireland through most of the UK its not been fooled yet ! The maps are good and the best bit is when you take a "wrong" turn it quickly recalculates the route and points you back in the right way. Much better at this than any other sat nav i have used.

The routes aren't always the ones that good solid local knowledge will use but in fairness they are not bad and it hasn't tried to send me down a dirt track or the wrong way up a one way street yet.

I think the dash mount is good, the unit is good looking and very user friendly. Its not the cheapest but in my opinion it is certainly worth it.

Only bad points are NO CARRY CASE, come on Panasonic! and No mains charger either, lastly the in built Mike for the phone isn't the clearest, well not at 100mph on the Autobahn anyway.

If you need a good clear europe wide sat nav that will synch with your phone Buy one you wont regret it!

5 out of 5 stars Is The New Strada as Good as Prada?   December 11, 2007

I must say that I've been looking for a cool Sat Nav to grace my dashboard but all the satnavs that are out at the moment don't really do it for me. In terms of style, this sat nav does it. It is very fast at Locking on to the Satellites, even in the house! The speaker is very good and clear with no crackle or pop. It has all the maps you will need in all native tongues, and for me what's important is something that looks good while performing to the highest standards, and I think this product will do well. All the functions work, touch screen is responsive, nice big screen, nice on the eye, nice black finish, very neat mount either dashboard or window. voice controls work well, TMC traffic option, speed cam warning,2d 3d, "Very Clued up" and Sexy.

It is a smart bit of kit and easy to use and operate. Map coverage is excellent. You can display many or as few of the on screen options as you like though a lot of data is very small and difficult to read. However the in car stand stand makes life difficult when trying to remove the Strada and why no case to carry it in? Sony has the much better dash board mount.

I have recently purchased the Panasonic Strada GP50N Sat Nav and it's brilliant! As you can imagine being a bit girly i was looking for something quite stylish looking and i think this is it...
The large screen is fantastic and it really makes it easy to use. The lane assist function is very helpful especially when driving in unfamliar areas.
I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a sat nav that looks great and performs well too!

5 out of 5 stars Great Sat Nav   December 28, 2008

I have owned three sat navs. A PDA with tomtom 6, a Tomtom One XL and a Garmin Nuvi 250w. All had some good features and some bad bits. The PDA + Tomtom 6, worked well but was messy to set up, the TOMTOM XL was ok for a month then packed up, nice while it worked but very flimsy and the Nuvi 250w was ok but took ages to lock on from cold and was a often inacurate with turning instructions. This Panasonic has basic features and is realy well made. The screen is clear and simple and so is the instructions. The screen mount is superb unlike Tomtoms mounts & it also has free camera updates etc from the Panasonic site.
