4 out of 5 stars Good camera for undemanding users   August 8, 2009

This camera has served well on several snorkel dives and a couple of shallow scuba dives. Alkaline batteries do not seem to last long but I have used 100 mA rechargeable batteries with no problem. One very annoying shortcoming is that although the camera has a series of white balance presets (daylight, cloudy, fluorescent, etc) there is not one for underwater, so pictures below a few metres are blue. Another is that there is a blue silicone rectangle on the back of the waterproof case that slipped off in the water and was lost. A little glue would have kept it in place, but I'm not sure what it was there for anyway and haven't missed it. This is a simple camera at an affordable price, good for a first try.

5 out of 5 stars underwater on a budget   September 4, 2010

I bought this camera on the basis of the previous review. Very happy with the results from snorkelling in Makdi bay egypt. It captured the colours well and had a reasonable range in the clear water. Overall I am extremely pleased with the images and performance. I have to agree this works much longer on re-chargeable batteries so best to get a 1 hour charger and 4 AAA's at the same time.

The rear display is a bit dark for framing under water, and not a good guide to the actual results which looked far better once on the computer screen. Also the default menu setting is for the date and time to be stamped on the images, so remember to turn that option off. Also I didn't glue the blue widget to the back and it stayed in place securely throughout, so it may vary in how tight it is from camera to camera.

Overall excellent at this price point!!!!
